What We Do

The Viola Award-nominated Lived Black Experience Project (LBE) is a strategic plan that is adopted within the framework of the City of Flagstaff’s ongoing developmental, financial, historical, and structural policies and procedures.

The LBE Coalition engages the public with the following goals:

  • Identify pressing issues & investigate the needs and perspectives of Flagstaff community members;
  • Elicit the input, expertise, and knowledge of community leaders, motivators, and historians;
  • Ensure inclusive dialogue with various aspects of the Flagstaff community;
  • Actively listen to and facilitate uncomfortable and purpose-driven conversations;
  • Engage Flagstaff's Black community throughout all phases of the city's strategic planning ;
  • Collaborate with community members, the City of Flagstaff, non-profits, Flagstaff Unified School District, and federal agencies to ensure northern Arizona's growth encompasses all engaged voices and perspectives;
  • Serve as a source of partnership & cultural connections for those engaged with youth, recruitment and retention.
  • Provide opportunities for all youth to participate in

LBE hosts a variety of programs and gatherings to educate and inspire our community, actively support small & locally owned enterprises and entrepreneurs, and encourage difficult & open dialogues. Email TheLBEProject@gmail.com for speaker, presentation, partnership requests, or exhibitor opportunities.
